Personal Injury
When you or someone you care about has been injured, what happens next is critical. At Harper Grey, you’ll find the support you need to recover and the expertise to secure the compensation you deserve.
A personal injury is any injury sustained by a person due to the actions of another individual or organization. A personal injury can be physical or it can be psychological. The injury can result from purposeful actions such as an assault or sexual assault, or from the negligence of another, such as a car accident. The impact of a personal injury can be multi-faceted, impacting not just yourself but also your loved ones, and your personal and professional life. If you have suffered emotionally, physically or financially due to an injury caused by the fault of another, our law states that you are entitled to compensation to restore you to the position that you would have been in if you had not been injured. The exception to this is injuries that result from motor vehicle accidents occurring on or after May 1, 2021 due to the passage of No Fault legislation which completely transformed the ICBC coverage that BC motorists hold. Please see more information regarding No Fault legislation below.

On April 1, 2022 the British Columbia government passed legislation that restricted British Columbian’s right to compensation through a lawsuit following a motor vehicle accident occurring in British Columbia. That legislation eliminated the right to compensation from the at-fault driver in all cases, except for limited circumstances, such aswhere the at fault motorist was criminally convicted of impaired driving. With this change, the ability of British Columbia residents to obtain legal counsel in car accidents has been severely impacted. Comparison of BC no Fault with other provinces throughout Canada:
