Known for his innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, Steve is recognized as one of BC’s leading business lawyers.
With a reputation for providing client-focused solutions, Steven works closely with entrepreneurs and corporations of all sizes and maturity across diverse industries. Steve has extensive transactional expertise, with experience advising clients regarding corporate reorganizations, private placement of shares, venture capital financing, and take-over bids. He provides general legal advice on a broad range of corporate matters and strategic counsel in the complex aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including divestitures and negotiated acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and is particularly sought after for his expertise in contested corporate transactions. His practice covers most forms of transaction-oriented investment activity.
One of our in-house authorities on directors’ and officers’ liability, Steve routinely provides advice regarding liability assessment for individual executives and corporate exposure, corporate conflict of interest, and the creation of whistleblower policies. Steve has a particular knack for thinking like a business partner and simplifying complex issues with an aim to provide tailored solutions to meet his client’s objectives.
Steve is the co-chair of our business law group and a frequent, sough-after speaker on venture finance, angel investing and mergers, acquisition, and divestiture. He is also a guest lecturer at the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC’s “Buying and Selling a Business” course. He has served as the Director and Chair of New Ventures BC Society and the Director and President of the BC Water Polo Association.
